A Steampunk Morning

Good Morning!

It's finally Friday here in New Hampshire. I woke up this morning wanting to watch Return to Oz. If you  haven't seen this movie you should. It's a great 'what-if' movie. Anyway...

Last night was a great night at the Steamy Swan Society's first movie night event. We screened League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The event was a hit! We had about twenty-five plus people and plenty of goodies including popcorn (a movie staple), warm brownies, cookies, soda, and mini pies. As a group, we look forward to having more events like this in the future. We are currently working on a Masquerade Ball, Victorian Tea, and a Murder Mystery Theater.

I'm so happy to find people in my area that are into the culture/genre that is Steampunk. So this post has some of my recent projects that incorporate aspects of the Steampunk world.

Steampunk is basically a what-if scenario. What if technology didn't progress the way it did? What-if everything was still powered by steam? This genre takes on properties of popular fiction during the mid 1800's through about 1910's. Julies Vern for example.

Steampunk Altered Art Shadow Coffin

Good Afternoon Everyone!

It's sunny and hot here in New Hampshire USA. Laundry is drying in the sun and I have finished another Steampunk themed project. I bought the coffin at Michael's and the paper from Stamping Memories in Belmont NH.

This item is available on ebay

Front of the outside-

 Inside the coffin-

The pattern paper is from the Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante collection. I used some of Tim Holtz's Wild Honey distress ink around the edges of the paper.

I used denominational foam under the flowers in the left side of the coffin and the corset on the right side.

The charms are jewelry pieces in my collection of embellishments. The loop opens to add more charms or to change the assortment. I spray painted the gears using Krylon paints.

Entry for the Core'dination Online Crop Challenge #5--Strips

Good Evening Everyone!

Only one day left to the Core'dination Online Crop. I have a lot of work ahead of me. So far I have completed seven of the thirteen original challenges. I'm felling really good about them as this goes along. Now I am working on Debbie's card stock only challenge. My plan is to have that one posted tonight before I go to bed.

Here is my layout:

I used a sheet of paper from the Moulin Rouge Collection by Prima Marketing. I used three sheets of Core'dination Essentials in Celery, Burgundy and Pea Pod for the strips and the photo mount. I folded the strips and antiqued the photo mounts before sanding them.

I stitched the stripes into place using my sewing machine.

I used lacy green ribbon around the photo mount and embossed the word "Hope" using bronze embossing powder and my VersaMarker.

Thanks for stopping by my  blog.

Entry for the Core'dination Online Crop Color Challenge

Good Evening Everyone!

It's been a busy day! I just got home and it's ten o'clock at night here in New Hampshire. I was at Stamping Memories in Belmont New Hampshire helping set up for the Second Chance with Saving Grace Crop Fundraiser tomorrow. The Crop will be from 11am to 5pm.

This morning I worked on another challenge from the Core'dination Online Crop. Today's project focused on Lydia's color challenge. This is what I came up with:

I cut the flowers out using the George and Basic Shape Cricut Cartridge at three different sizes. The flowers are the two different reds layered together. I layered the two green and used the blue as the rectangle for a sentiment. The white paper in the center of the blue card stock is actually inked using Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass.

I also made a portfolio to hold the four note cards and envelopes.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Coloring Pumpkins with Copic Markers

Good Morning Everyone!

I know it's been a long time since the last time I posted. So many things have been happening. However, I'm very excited to share this video with you. I love Halloween! It's the one day of the year that children can dress up and be anything they want to be. I also love the colors of the season. The reds, oranges, yellow and browns....so beautiful.

This video show cases my love of Fall. I used Copic markers to color in the pumpkins. The colors I chose and how I blended them helped create a vintage look. Once the new Happy Hauntings Graphic 45 paper comes in at Stamping Memories in Belmont NH; this will look perfect on it.

My Love for Graphic 45 Paper!

Good Evening Everyone!

So I started teaching classes at Stampin' Memories in the Belknap Mall in Belmont NH. They are the only place in New Hampshire that I have been able to find Graphic 45 paper. I love this paper! I find that it's weight is great for all my projects and it's double sided. Which means I have pages that coordinate.

On December 3rd, I will be teaching a class about envelope books called Vintage Christmas Brag Book. The project I designed is using papers from the Christmas Emporium and Le Cirque collections by Graphic 45.

Please visit Stampin' Memories' Website at www.nhstampinmemories.com and Graphic 45's website at  http://www.g45papers.com for more information on classes and products. Graphic 45 products are also available through my store.

Below are pictures of the paper I used.
