Sassy Studio Designs Challege for September 13th 2012

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I'm very excited to submit my first entry in the Sassy Studio Designs Challenges. This week was a sketch challenge.

I decided to use the SSD Steampunk Vivian image. I used paper from Graphic 45's Steampunk Debutante, Core'dinations Vintage Collection, Copic Markers and Dew Drops. The card measures 5.25 square and is distressed with Tim Holtz Tea Dyed ink.

Core'dination Online Crop

Today is the first day after the end of the Core'dination Online Crop. I'm really sad that it's over already. I have really enjoyed talking and sharing projects with people from around the world. I think that was the most creative five days I've ever had.

As a side note I couldn't help, but complete another page using the sketch from Challenge #14. Here it is:

Entry for Core'dination Challenge #13 from Cari

Challenge #13 is from Cari. I had a little trouble deciding what to do. I really love using the Black Magic Collection from Core'dination. I decided to use five different sheets to do a card stock only layout using a picture of me playing dress up (Yes even adults like to play dress up).

Here is the final layout:

I scored a line one inch in all the way around the 12x12 piece of Petrificus.

Then using a piece of Freeze I score at one inch intervals than turned the paper on an angle to repeat the scored lines every inch.

I the cut a strip of Protect. I scored every quarter of an inch flipping the paper back and forth. After sanding I cut the strip into a banner shape

The yellow piece is Magic. I scored every half inch on a diaginal.

The butterflies are cut using the Cricut from Wizard. I then used my bone folder to score the outline of the butterfly from the back side of the die cut before sanding.

Spring Layout

Good Morning,

It's beautiful and sunny here in New Hampshire. I'm hanging out at Stamping Memories in Belmont New Hampshire till 6pm. I love exploring all their new items. There are some gorgeous fairy stamps from StampWorkz. I want them all. :) I'll post some pictures of the new items this week.

This is a really simple 2 page layout using papers from the 2012 DCWV Spring and Summer Stack, Bazzil card stock, ribbon, Inka gold in Rose, Stickles, 3D flower from K&Company and a jewelry accent.  I hope you enjoy the video and please leave a comment or suggestion for techniques you would like to see in future videos.

       Making Memories Tool Kit
       Making Memories Coordinating Papers--over coordinating papers of your choice on sheet of three styles 12x12
       Favorite Adhesive--I used photo mounting squares from Scotch and a Glue Runner from Ad Tech
       Coordinating brads--I bought mine from JoAnn Fabrics
       Card stock in appropriate color--I used black
       Sentiment Stamp--I used "Celebrate" from a Stampin' Up set
       Coordinating ribbon--I used a light purple that is 1/8" in width
       Card and Envelope--I used a 5x7 when folded card

      striped coordinating paper--3 1/2 x 2 1/4 inches--mount is 3 3/4 x 2 1/2
      paisley coordinating paper-- 5 x 1 1/2 inches-- mount is 5 1/4 x 1 3/4
      argyle coordinating paper-- 4 11/16 x 6 11/16-- mount is 4 15/16 x 6 15/16
      ribbon is cut at 4 inches

Color Choice

What color goes with what color? What will look good with this paper?

Age old questions, hopefully this blog will help.

Primary Colors--are the basic colors from which all other colors are made. The primary colors are blue, red and yellow.

Secondary Colors--are the three colors that are made by mixing two primary colors. The secondary colors are purple, orange and green.

Monocromatic Color--is using various shades and tints of the same color. For example, monocromatic scale of purple would be lt purple to purple to dk purple.

Complementary Colors--are the two colors that are across from each other on a color wheel. Red complements green. Blue complements orange. Yellow complements purple.

If you have a paper that is rich in color try using a cardstock that is one of the lesser used colors in the paper.
